Ocalan says Iran, Greece, Serbia among PKK backers: Turkish press

ANKARA, Feb 25 (AFP) - Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan has
told prosecutors that Iran, Greece and Serbia are among countries
that have helped his rebels in their armed campaign for self-rule on
Turkish territory, Turkish press reports said Friday.
"We have a camp in Romania that gives political training. A
majority of people from this camp direct HADEP," Turkey's main
Kurdish party, Ocalan was quoted as saying during his
interrogation.
The rebel leader was previously reported to have incriminated
HADEP (People's Democracy Party) as being directly linked to the
PKK.
HADEP has rejected the charge, but faces possible closure for
alleged ties with the rebels.
Ocalan has also listed Serb-dominated Yugoslavia among countries
that provide his rebels with arms.
The newspaper, which did not cite any sources, quoted the PKK
leader as saying that there was a hospital in Orumiyeh in Iran which
treats injured PKK members.
Ocalan reportedly said that the PKK owned property in Syria,
where he left behind over two million dollars in the care of one of
his supporters.
There were two schools within the Syrian secret service that
trained the rebels, he added, according to the reports.
The rebel leader said he received financial backing from Greece
and had close ties with the Greek secret service.
"We collected money in Greece. We got it with help from
businessman, churches and the public," Ocalan reportedly said.
Ocalan was interrogated by three prosecutors for two days and
was allowed to meet his lawyers on Thursday.
The prosecutors are currently working on the indictment to be
brought against the rebel leader, which they are expect to complete
in 45 days.
